Welcome

Following Governor Ducey’s charge to the State Board of Education to review the 2010 English Language Arts and Mathematics Standards, the Arizona Department of Education brought together diverse educators from across the state to review and revise the standards. The English Language Arts and Mathematics Working Groups were made up of over 200 Arizona educators from 10 counties. These educators reviewed over 2,000 public comments on the 2010 English Language Arts and Math standards and used this input and their own grade-level expertise to review each standard. During the standards review process, Arizona educators donated over 6,000 hours of their time to ensure that the standards are best for Arizona students.

The second draft of the 2016 Arizona Standards has been posted.  The Academic Standards Development Committee will be meeting on December 14th, 2016, at 9:00 a.m to consider a recommendation to the State Board of Education for adoption of the second draft.   The State Board of Education will be meeting on December 19th, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. to consider adoption of the second draft.  An opportunity for public comment will be available at both of these meetings.
